Moments of Magenta...

Alright, let's see...Magenta has been great, but it has also been difficult to wear consistently.   I don't believe it's best for the safety and sanctity of my clients to wear these during a shift on the milieu.  My supervisors have stated I may conduct this experiment at my own discretion.  Being that I work in Mental Health on an inpatient unit, where tensions can change very quickly, Magenta is not the color for this environment.  Sure, it makes a great conversational piece, but with the lighting in the building, when I have them on it feels like I can't see particular areas of the unit.  I am a little OCD when it comes to safety of myself and others.  Magenta presents some obstacles in this area.  This is a great color during the day and outside!  It is one of the more intense colors in the set.  Interestingly enough, when I wore Aqua for a while it filtered out the red so when I took them off everything was very red (I mentioned the "harsh lighting" in a previous post).  Similarly, the Magenta filters out the greens so when I take them off everything is very, very, green.  While wearing them, however, the greens are tinted brown and yellow is highlighted.  The first day I wore these, it was difficult to drive because the red lights were yellow, the yellow lights were lime green, and the green lights were very dark to see.  I became very hesitant and VERY careful when trying to drive with them on.  It appears though, that the longer I wear them, the more I adjust and I begin to lose sight of the Magenta.  Everything begins to blend with my unaided sight and the traffic lights are now able to be seen as red, yellow, and green.  They have adjusted.  Weird.  Also, I have noticed a slight disconnect (head from body) feeling from time to time--it is not consistent, but it has been happening.  I think they're pretty cool.  The social aspect is pretty funny: I have yet to share them with someone who's first response is not "Woooooah."  Every time.  It makes me laugh how consistent people's responses are.
